About Us

The ministry of BBN started back in 1993 with a small one hundred watts FM station built by a missionary - Rev Kyle Leatherwood from Terrell Texas.
The Lord instructed him in a vision to go to Sierra Leone to start a Christian radio station.
In obedience to God's instruction he located Sierra Leone in an atlas because he had never been there before. Though he faced numerous challenges yet he overcame and BBN was established. In May 1993 the station was officially inaugurated.
Rev Leatherwood had an instruction from God to hand over the station to a national. In 1998 it was handed over to the then Acting Manager - Ransford Wright as President/CEO of BBN. This he did because he was convinced that God has called Ransford to radio in Africa and anointed him for it.
Since then, BBN has grown over the years. What started as a 100watts FM station is now Sierra Leones' favourite Christian Radio reaching over 1 million people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, 24 hrs daily in Sierra Leone and neighbouring Guinea.

Our Motivation

The Gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations and then shall the end come. Matthew 24:14.

With the high level of illitracy in Africa, the fastest and most cost effective way to bring the good news of salvation, peace, joy and hope in christ to the people of the continent is through the electronics media - "faith comes by hearing"
Romans 10:17

Our Aims and Objectives

  • To serve as a catalyst for unity in the body of Christ and encourage greater mutual understanding between members of different denominations;
  • To build a distinctively Christian radio station that is commercially successful and remain focused to its mission statement;
  • To equip, nurture, encourage and build up the faith of Christians;
  • To make Christian values and beliefs accessible to non-Christians;
  • To express the perspective of the Christian faith in relation to current issues and events;
  • To campaign for truth in areas of concern;
  • Through counselling, provide help and advice to people who are suffering or need comfort whether they are Christians or not;
  • To produce informative and entertaining programs and to become recognised over the longer term as a centre of excellence for Christian media.
